It was a horrible day here in my hometown, Ottawa, yesterday.
A young, dedicated soldier, Cpl Nathan Cirillo, was guarding at our Nation’s War Memorial in the city’s downtown core when he was tragically killed in cold blood.
We offer our deepest condolences to Nathan’s family, friends, and his 5-year-old son. What a tragedy.
I’m so unbelievably sad for the loss of this young soldier who died guarding a monument that was created to honour those who have risked and lost their lives for us. Now Cpl Nathan Cirillo is one of them.
He will always be remembered and honoured by all of us here in Canada.
